Importance of Having a Clear and Calm Mind

A clear and calm mind is like a clear pond you can see through.  When the water is agitated, the mud from the bottom of the pond springs up and the water becomes murky.

A clear and calm mind beats a murky and agitated mind any day.  The more agitated the market becomes, the easier it is to beat the market as long as you can keep a clear and calm mind yourself.  When the market is calm, perhaps the best thing to do is to not do anything.

Managing Risk

Bad events, however unlikely they are perceived to be in the short run, will eventually happen given a sufficient amount of time.  Trouble is a series of good events makes us believe we are immunized from the bad events or we will be able to somehow avoid them.

Be prepared at all times for the eventual occurrence of bad events.  It is not a question of whether they will happen or not.  It is about how well we are prepared to limit the magnitude of the negative consequences when they do happen.

Go with the Flow

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream...

My Job as a Hedge Fund Manager

Money is probably one of the biggest motivators for people's behavior.  People cook food, clean homes, make goods and provide services for others in exchange for money.

My job is to create financial abundance for my clients.  It is a very important, noble and gratifying work for me.
